People do not always know which kind of help they are looking for — and the three most easily confused with Relationship Readiness coaching serve genuinely different purposes.
This page sets out, fairly, how the discipline differs from couples counselling or therapy and from matchmaking: what each does, when it is used, and where they complement rather than replace one another. It names none of them as lesser.
Definition · Relationship Readiness coaching
Relationship Readiness coaching is the structured, forward-looking professional practice of guiding committed couples through the design and practice of shared life, using reflection rather than advice, while the couple remains the authority on every decision.
Reading each of the others against that definition is what makes the differences clear. The table below reads all three by the same measures, and the sections after it take each comparison in turn — so a question people often ask in a single line, is this the same as counselling?, gets the fuller answer it deserves.
These are different kinds of help, with different purposes — not better and worse versions of one thing.
